Quantum Engineering Company provided field surveys, schematic design, design development, contract bid documents, bidding, and construction administration for these Freshman Dorms. The Quad Dorms were constructed in the 1910’s and house approximately 450 students. This complex is the oldest and largest residential area on campus. It is divided into 19 clusters each with its own entrance.
Quantum Engineering Company, PC provided design and construction phase services over several years in step with a multi-year phased construction process to refresh the plumbing, HVAC and electrical infrastructure. The Quad Dorms are connected to the campus central plant steam and chilled water systems. The upgrades included providing new 2-pipe fan coil units in each housing unit, new dual temperature piping, new condensate drains and select plumbing piping replacements. The electrical upgrades included new electrical devices and LED lighting in the dorm rooms and public areas. The central ventilation fans were replaced, ductwork professionally cleaned and a new makeup air system was added to the central laundry in the basement.
